A wet basement is a common problem in all types of basements. Waterproofing is needed whenever a structure is built at ground level or below ground level.
Basement waterproofing also known as Foundation waterproofing is a technique used to prevent water from entering the basement of a property or other types of buildings and, along with drainage and sealing considerations, effective basement waterproofing will be needed in cases where ground water is likely to build up in the soil and raise the watertable.
This higher watertable can and does cause hydrostatic pressure to be exerted underneath basement floors and against basement walls. Hydrostatic pressure then forces water in through:
- Cracks in the foundation walls
- Through openings caused by expansion and contraction of the footing-foundation wall joint
- Up through floor cracks
A dry basement will protect the investment you made in your home as well as enable you to use the space for storage or for a basement finishing project to gain additional living space.
If you suffer from a wet basement, dampness, mold or mildew in your home or building, please contact Eco-Proof Waterproofing Coating Systems for expert and specialist advise to your problem.
